Happy New Year !

January 8th, 2010 by office

8th  January 2010

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year to you all!

Despite a challenging first week due to weather conditions and building work problems, the children have returned to school refreshed after the Christmas festivities and ready to begin the new term with enthusiasm.   They have thoroughly enjoyed playing in the snowy conditions and their behaviour has been impeccable. All children have followed the firm guidelines put in place and that has enabled us to stay safe outdoors.

Thank you for your support during this difficult week. We expect to operate as normal on Monday unless there are any unforeseen events. I hope you have found our text messaging service useful to keep you informed. The blog site also contains more detailed information on the office and Head teacher pages.

Reminders

Children should not arrive in school before 8.45 a.m. as the playground is not supervised before this time and in such cold conditions children can be at risk from slips and falls.

  • Thank you for not using the main school car park gates as access to the playground.  This is a dangerous area, where cars and delivery vehicles are entering and leaving the premises.
  • After school activities will begin for the Spring Term on Tuesday 12th January. Please refer to your year timetable, there is also a copy on the blog site.
  • We have extended the date for accepting T shirt orders to Friday 15th January a.m.

 School improvements

To improve the safety and security of our premises, new fencing will be installed at the front of the school. This work will take place next week. The location of the new fencing and gate is outside Mrs Grimshaw’s classroom and the work will take approximately one week. Access to and from the school by the side gate will not be interrupted.  The new gate will be locked at 9.05 in the morning and unlocked at 3.00 p.m. in the afternoon. During the day access to the school should be made through the main entrance at the front of the school.

 Dates for your diary:

Tuesday 12th January – clubs start

Friday 12th February – school closes for half term

Monday 22nd February – School opens

Thursday 18th March – Parents’ Evening

Monday 22nd March -  Parents’ Evening

Yours sincerely,

Both the Infant and Junior schools will be open tomorrow at the usual time. This decision has been made in liaison with guidance from the Local Authority.

All children are asked to bring a change of footwear and perhaps an extra pair of jogging bottoms to enable them to go outside at play times.

Of course parents must only bring their children to school if they consider that their journey is safe for them to make in light of the freezing temperatures that are predicted. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to make sure that the school environment is safe, although we are not able to deal with the surrounding pavements.

Thank you for your patience at this difficult time.

Mrs Williams

School closure 4th January

January 2nd, 2010 by office

Happy New Year everyone!
Unfortunately due to a delay in the connection of the gas supply, school will be closed on Monday to all children. Conditions are particularly severe due to the inclement weather over the Christmas break. All parents and carers have received a text message on Saturday morning to enable them to have as much time as possible to make child care arrangements. This also has implications for children who have hot school meals at the Infant school. All infant children should bring a packed lunch to school on Monday. The Infant school is open as normal.
We will keep you up to date with arrangements for Tuesday via text and the blog site on Monday.
Regards
Mrs Williams

SCHOOL CLOSURE 4TH JANUARY

December 17th, 2009 by office

Dear Parents,

Christmas celebrations

We do hope that you enjoyed the performances of ‘Disney Delights’ last week.  The children and staff have all worked so hard and had great fun producing such polished performances.  Our thanks also go to parents for providing costumes, support in learning lines and songs and to the PA for providing mulled wine and mince pies for the evening performances.

The children were treated to a cinema visit on Tuesday or Wednesday. This certainly helped us to get into the Christmas mood!  We have also held our Christmas market for the children today. Children have been busy making things to sell to the other classes and thoroughly enjoyed their hour of Christmas shopping this afternoon.

Personalised Christmas cards have been a great success and we hope to repeat them again next year. Thanks to the P.A for all their efforts.

Traffic dangers

We continue to work with the Community police on this matter and ask again that you consider the safety of the community when parking around school.  You may have seen several officers supporting us before and after school recently.

Lost property

There is a large amount of lost property in school. Please call in before or after school to check for lost items.  Anything found with a name will be returned to its owner.

After school activities

Karate club will commence the first Friday back at school (8th January) and all other clubs will restart in the week beginning 11th January.

Family T shirts.

These have been a great success and we will be placing another order with the suppliers at the beginning of the Spring Term. If you would like to place an order please call for an order form from the school or print one for yourself from the blog site. All orders should be placed by Friday 8th January.

Finally

Many thanks to all of you who have supported us through this busy time of year.  As we move into the last day of the Autumn Term we are looking forward to our final Christmas Assembly when we focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy and safe Christmas holiday.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C. Williams
